Flashnews: The settlement disciplines regime (CSDR): Destination 2022
The date of 1 February 2021 has just been formalised and is already a thing of the past.
On 28 August 2020 the ESMA has indeed, at the express request of the European Commission, suggested a new date for the start of the CSDR settlement disciplines regime, in this case 1 February 2022.
This new postponement was motivated by the impact of Covid-19 on the industry’s readiness to implement the new regime. Its adoption by the Commission should not give rise to any difficulty. Let’s hope that neither Parliament nor the Council objects to it!
